  • Planning permission has been requested for 7 wind turbines, each one capable of generating between 2 and 3 MW (MegaWatts). This will give a total installed capacity of up to 21 MW

  • The turbines will have an 80m hub height - 125m to top blade tip height

  • The scheme will have a maximum life of 25 years.

The Site:

You can see a map of where the wind farm is proposed on the Your Energy website - http://www.miltonkeyneswindfarm.com/interactive-map.aspx

Environmental and Energy Generation Benefits:
  • The wind farm will displace up to 35,000 tonnes of CO2 annually
(this is equivalent to the annual emissions from up to 13,000 cars)

  • Enough 'clean' electricity to power up to 9,000 homes

  • Enough 'clean' electricity to contribute up to 15% of the sub region's 2010 Energy Target (21MW of installed capacity)

Local Community/Economic Benefits:

The wind farm will bring economic benefits to the area during construction, and the associated community benefits fund would amount to £200,000 - £300,000 being made available to spend on local community projects over the 25 year life of the project.

The residents of Burton Wold (another Your Energy development) have commenced three projects using their first instalment of the community fund a year after construction. This includes an education/information centre about the wind farm at the local library, installing solar hot water heating in sheltered housing and lighting up the church steeple using renewable energy.
